Devo Tribute NightWednesday 29th June 2005
With 3 days notice we got together a song for this gig, how could we not?
Uncontrollable Urge. Jimbot played guitar and sung and Shonabot played drums and backing vocals. It was rough but good. Everyone else did more, including GRNR http://www.grnr.co.uk/ , Lummox who did the same song but rather differently and ended with an amazing acapella version of Jocko Homo, The Grease Monkeys played and looked fab in their cycle shorts and layered plant pot energy domes and Uncle John and Whitelock http://www.gfmproductions.com/UJ&W/unclejohn.htm ended the night in raucous fashion, but the guitars stayed intact!
Another fab multi band night at Stereo.
If anyone has a photo of the night please send it to us and we'll stick it up. |

Nanobots At Stereo Eclectric Extravaganza Saturday 28th May 2005
Our 3rd gig and fingers crossed we'd managed to sort the computer glitch. We played with Beatroot (3 piece quirky guitar instrumental), ARSS (5/6/sometimes7-piece improvisation sample-rock with the best ever Scottish polemic voice overs. And they play behind a sheet.) and the amazing Lummox who are kind of like Tom Waites and his band if they were Glasgow south side socialists who holidayed in a Ukranian tapir husbandry camp.
All the bands played some of the best sets I've seen them do, our computer worked perfectly, the crowd were extremely responsive, the bands all told each other they were great, friends were made, email addresses were exchanged and a most entertainingly eclectic night out was had by all! If you were there, let us know if it was as good as we remember it.
Jim Bot took the photo, he must have been on the wacky backy!!!

Dundee Saturday 21st May 2005
One of the good things about the Nice'n'Sleazy gig was that the promoter for Sluts of Trust asked us to support them at a gig in Dundee the following Saturday. So we did. Didn't think the second gig would come along so quickly, see you at Hampden!
Anyway, we travelled to Dundee with Sluts of Trust, the gig was in the basement of The Beat Bar, it was pretty quiet but it did have a very cute pa. Only one computer glitch, progress!
Thanks to Andy Dempsey for the photo

NANOBOTS GIG NUMBER 1 Wednesday 11th May 2005
NANOBOTS played their first gig at Nice'n'Sleazy in Glasgow with Our Lunar Eclipse and Projekt A-ko http://www.projektako.co.uk . The bands got together and organised a Free CD with one track from each band for the first 50 people at the gig.
Our track was "Oxygen" We instigated the gig and we were really pleased that the other bands agreed to do it. We had a great turn out right from the start ( there was a queue before doors opened, although the sound-check DID run late), and thanks to everyone who turned out for us, not knowing what you were letting yourself in for!
A couple of gins later and we were on. After practising privately for weeks it was really weird playing the tunes to other people. And our first time playing live together. And first on the bill!!!
So, apart from the computer locking up 3 times (during which Shona managed to maintain some cool wah-wah guitar until things kicked in again!) it all went pretty well and our semi-partisan audience were extremely gracious. We had a great time.
Projekt A-ko and Our Lunar Eclipse did great sets and thanks again to them and everyone who came for helping us get thongs started. I meant things.
Thanks to Manada Rin for the photo.
